Answers

1.  What types of lubricants should you use to prevent fly off and contaminations on industrial machinery and can these be a mix of different lubricants?

It is a big mistake to mix different lubricants even if they do the same job. Mixing can lead to all kinds of trouble as one grease can affect the structure of another, particularly with soap base greases.   For slow speed machinery we recommend the U.5032 Moly Open Gear Grease.  It is advisable to clean away as much of the old grease as possible before using this product.

2. What’s the best product for cleaning cement from quarry tiles?

Acid wash is the best solution but it must be diluted and users should be careful with contact.  Time needs to be taken to remove the cement and time needs to take time and a few coats should be applied.

3. What’s the best process fo descaling and unblocking toilet urinal pipes safely?

Phos descaler should be used first to remove blockages and clear all pipe work.  Two to three applications may be required and should be left to saok for a few hours.  Once the pipes are cleared you should use a Descale product regularly and clean and disinfect the pipes daily to stop build up.

4. How do you get rid of the build up of tenancious foodstuffs from an industrial oven?

The best way to deal with the build up of food for both industrial and residential ovens is to use a light alkaline cleaner that contains a small percentage of caustic. You will need to spend a fair bit of time scrubbing the surface but you will avoid damage or scratches.  Alternatively, you can use a stronger, fast acting cleaner with more caustic.  Please note that caustic alone is not easy or pleasant to use and many cheaper range products use ingredients that can give off very strong fumes that makes the job extremely difficult.
We always recommend that the easiest and best way is always to clean the oven straight after use, whilst it is cooling down using our specialised product concentrated Mangnaclean bactericidal which should be diluted with 25 parts clean water. This is a simple spray on and wipe off solution and you can use a green, scouring pad for any stubborn residues.  This is a very safe method and if you don’t have time to clean the oven straight after use, it can be used at later date by warming up the oven first.
To remove more hardened grime, food staining and heavy baked on food greases you will require one of our heavy duty oven cleaning products: either the Gladiator gel oven cleaner, Sodaklean or Metasoak aluminum safe.  These products have been specially developed to clean ovens and degrease industrial kitchen apparatus and are safe and quick to use.

5. What products can be used to clean surface rust and degrease car park bays?

Cleaning off the surface rust will be relatively straightforward using our Phosclean product.  This product should be diluted with approximatley 5-10% water and can be sprayed to keep labour to a minimum.   To prevent the rust from returning, once dry you can spray the surfaces with our Alu Galv Cold galvinising spray that comes in an aerosol so is easy to touch up.
To degrease car park bays, you should try a water-based degreaser such as our Citracleanse.  Our own teams use this product for this type of work.   Again, the product is diluated with 70% water and should be scrubbed into the surface, left for around 10 minutes and then rinsed off.

6. Can I use a fungicidal wash to jet wash my house without damage to the paintwork?

There are some very effective fungicidal products on the market that can be used to clean down your house without damaging the paintwork.  Our very own Algae Free contains a special blend of alkali based detergents and surfactants that do not affect stable paintwork. We use this product to clean down paintwork on boats, metal cladding, industrial painted machinery, soft play areas, canopies and awnings as well as the outsides of all types of buildings including houses.

7. Is there a product available that will remove solvent based acrylic polymer pressure sensitive adhesive build up from machinery that is in line with H & S requirements to be safe and user friendly?

We have a number of customers who use our Microtec 41/80 solvent cleaner and degreaser for this type of cleaning process.  This product allows for more contact time and will allow you to dissolve the residues, which in turn will reduce chemical usage . It also evaporates completely.

The Microtec 41/80 is much more user friendly and safer solvent cleaner to use than ipa-based solvents with a flammability level of over 40c.  Microtec is fast drying, does not contain any toxic solvent hydrocarbons and has virtually no odour so is  safer to use in confined spaces.

8. Is it better to use specialised cleaners on different wash troom surfaces, or is it acceptable to use the same cleaner for all areas of the washroom?

Where possible try to use single products this eliminates any confusion by staff and reduces the risk of errors or accidents. Be aware that some product ingredients can cancel out the sanitising and cleaning effect of other non -ompatible products.  Always check compatibility and suitability of cleaning products. Biactive fragranced washroom cleaner is an all in one antibacterial surface cleaner suitable for all washroom surfaces.

9. There is a lot of build-up from people working out and sweating in my health club. Should I implement a heavy-duty cleaning once a month to remove bacteria, or is daily cleaning enough?

Daily cleaning with the right products containing suitable antibacterial cleaner will not only clean and remove the unwanted build up of  dispersed partials from people’s bodies but is safe for the equipment surfaces too.  It is always good to have a cleaning programme to allow for a deeper cleaning on a regular basis to get into all the awkward areas which, if left, will allow the build up of un-cleaned bacteria from small particles of skin and hair, sweat, lotions, body creams etc.... APT’s Hidrocleanse or Biactive are safe antibacterial surface cleaners ideal for these tasks.

10. It seems like there are a lot of new disinfectants that have a strong fragrance. Is it better to use a cleaner that is fragrance-free?

There is no real disadvantage  to having fragrant disinfectants except if these are being used in food preparation areas. However you should be aware of the antibacterial cleaning power rather than using disinfectants as some that contain high fragrance may not give you the appropriate and effective cleaning and disinfecting  properties . Arromacleanse or Dekon 50 both give excellent disinfection and cleaning finish even when diluted by adding up to 50 parts water, leaving a long lasting fresh clean fragrance. For a fragrance free use antibacterial cleaner try  Hidrocleanse.
